Concept

"Billow" is a wine serving tray that is inspired by the auspicious clouds from Chinese culture. The idea of auspicious cloud derived from the early meteorology of China, people at the time considered that the cloud represents the idea of "luck," and was highly valued by ancient Chinese.
The tray is consisted with two parts. The three rounded areas in the middle function to serve the wine bottle and glasses. The spiral design is used to stabilize the glasses. The divided areas are for the snacks to consume with the wine. The tray is specifically designed for serving red wine.

It was a huge challenge to make the modern, "mechanical," spirals and the overall organic shape visually harmonious. To solve this problem, I lowered the height of the spiral and simplified the design. Another challenge was to adjust the proportion of each part. I tried more than 5 times, continuously redesigned and remade the model to reach to a perfect proportion.
